The Southwest Pharmacist Recovery Network grew from the desire of the attendees at the
1988 University of Utah Summer School on Alcohol and other Drug Dependencies
to keep in touch with each other.

They felt that a need existed to have a network of encouragement and support for pharmacy professionals in recovery and others interested in recovery including:

- Pharmacists
- Pharmacy students
- Pharmacy technicians
|
|
The first meeting was held that Fall in Tucson, Arizona. It was held concurrently with Region 8 National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) and Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) meetings.

Since then, an independent meeting has been held annually in the Fall, in different states in the Southwest Region.
